According to the estimates from the distribution company, the weekend was relatively quiet, with the exception of the release of a Hindi film. "Pathan," a popular movie, made it to the top five, and "Everything, Everywhere at Once" and "Fableman's" were re-released after being nominated for the Academy Awards.
As per the distribution business estimates, "Avatar: The Way of Water" remained the top-grossing movie in North America for seven consecutive weekends, earning an extra $15.7 million. The release of the Hindi movie on Sunday contributed to the quiet weekend. "Pathan" was one of the most successful movies during the weekend and secured a place in the top five, along with the re-released "Everything, Everywhere at Once" and "Fableman's," which received Academy Award nominations.
The movies "Everything, Everywhere at Once," "Fableman's," and "Avatar: The Way of Water" were all directed by James Cameron. "The Way of Water" generated around $2.1 billion in revenue globally, surpassing "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" to become the fourth highest-grossing film in history. James Cameron directed three of the four highest-grossing films.
Sony's "A Man Cold Auto" secured the third position, earning $6.8 million from 3,957 screens. "Megan," a horror movie, managed to enter the top four, taking $6.4 million in its fourth weekend, bringing its total domestic earnings to $82.3 million.
