Crises continue... Inter loses player to injury against Barcelona

Inter Milan's French international defender Benjamin Pavard will miss Wednesday's Champions League semi-final first leg against Barcelona due to a left ankle injury, according to Italian media reports .

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport and Sky Sport Italia, the right-back has suffered a sprain and will not travel with the team to Catalonia.

Inter, contacted by AFP, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Pavard suffered a sprained left ankle after being pushed by a Roma player during a league match. Despite receiving treatment and attempting to continue the match, he was forced to leave the field in the 15th minute.

His coach, Simone Inzaghi, said after the match, which Inter lost 1-0, "It's a sprain in his left ankle, and we'll see in the next few days whether he'll be able to play."

On the other hand, the Italian press reported that Inter may recover the services of another French international striker, Marcus Thuram, who missed the team's last three matches with a thigh injury, all of which ended in defeats.

In just eight days, Inter suffered three defeats in the league: against Bologna (1-0), Roma (1-0), and in the second leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final against Milan (3-0).

Until last week, Inter had dreamed of a historic treble, but the team was eliminated from the Coppa Italia and surrendered the league lead to Napoli, who now lead by three points with four rounds remaining.
