OpenAI plans to build five new AI data centersIn cooperation with Oracle and SoftBank.
OpenAI announced on Tuesday plans to build five new AI data centers in several US states in partnership with Oracle and SoftBank.
The new data centers will bring the Stargate project's planned production capacity to 7 gigawatts, enough power to power more than 5 million homes.
Three of these new sites are being developed in partnership with Oracle, and are located in Shackelford County, Texas, Doña Ana County, New Mexico, and an undisclosed location in the Midwest.
The other two locations are being developed in partnership with SoftBank, one in Lordstown, Ohio, and the other in Milam County, Texas.
Stargate's new AI data centers are part of a massive infrastructure expansion at OpenAI, as the company works to train and deliver more powerful AI models.
On Monday, OpenAI announced it would secure a $100 billion investment from Nvidia to purchase the chipmaker's AI processors and build more AI data centers.
