Dialogue is vital and must continue.

Kirill Dmitriev, Russian President Vladimir Putin's special envoy to the United States, arrived in the United States on Friday, stressing that dialogue with Washington is vital to the world and must continue.
He also added, via X, that there are British and European attempts to thwart direct dialogue between Putin and Trump, stressing that it will continue despite what he described as recent unfriendly American steps.

However, Putin's envoy declared that dialogue would only be possible if Russia's interests were treated with respect.
This comes as Dmitriev is scheduled to meet with officials from President Donald Trump's administration in Washington, including the US president's envoy, to continue discussions on normalizing Russian-US relations, according to CNN.

The United States recently announced a new package of sanctions targeting the Russian oil companies Rosneft and Lukoil and their subsidiaries.
Trump also announced the suspension of his summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Budapest.

While Russia downplayed the US sanctions imposed on the Russian energy sector, US President Donald Trump commented on the matter.
"I'm very glad he feels that way," Trump said in response to a White House reporter's question about Russian President Vladimir Putin downplaying the impact of US sanctions.
But he added, "Let's wait six months and see what happens."

"Russian procrastination"

Putin told reporters on Thursday that the sanctions announced by Washington on Wednesday "are certainly serious and will have some repercussions, but they will not significantly impact the country's economic health."

The Russian president also described the sanctions as "an attempt at pressure," adding, "But no self-respecting country or people would make a decision in this way." He emphasized that the Russian oil sector feels "confident and determined."
He also considered it "impossible" to replace Russian oil products with other products on the global market.

It's worth noting that the US president recently expressed his displeasure with what he described as his Russian counterpart's procrastination in halting the war in Ukraine, despite his assertion that he and Putin have a good relationship.

While Trump sought to intensify efforts to end the war, fulfilling several promises he made during his election campaign, the Kremlin adhered to what it considered radical conditions for ending the conflict and establishing a long-term peace with Kyiv.
