With eggs and flour... a Spanish town witnesses a battle as part of its annual festival

The town of Ebe in southeastern Spain witnessed festive scenes on Sunday for a traditional annual festival, after its streets turned into a comic confrontation arena.

The streets of the town of Ibi, located in southeastern Spain, turned into a scene of unconventional confrontation on Sunday, in which tools far removed from known weapons were used, in scenes that combined a festive character with a popular spirit.

The annual "Els Infarinats" festival

The town's streets were filled with participants who used eggs and flour to attack each other, as part of the traditional "Els Infarinats" festival, which is held annually and is one of the most prominent popular events in the region.

Dozens of men and women from the town participated in this symbolic battle, where seriousness was mixed with humor, and the participants engaged in a mutual confrontation before the scenes ended with a warm embrace between the parties involved in the "battle".

The participants in this mock confrontation were careful to wear clothes and costumes that mimic those commonly worn in official wars, but they replaced real weapons with egg plates and flour sacks, while some of them lit fireworks that added a festive touch to the scene.

A cultural event that attracts visitors

The "Els Infarinats" festival is considered one of the most important cultural events in the town of "Ebi", as it attracts thousands of local residents annually, along with visitors from all over Spain and abroad.

A large number of locals and visitors are keen to participate in this special celebration, which dates back centuries to inherited folk traditions and reflects an aspect of the region’s cultural heritage.
