Somalia Deserves Accountability, Not Unilateral Decisions
Somalia is currently at a critical crossroads as political, security, and economic challenges deepen across the country. The current administration has repeatedly failed to meet the expectations of its citizens, leaving the nation in uncertainty over issues of security, development, and social justice. The lack of a clear electoral agenda, both for regional and presidential elections, has caused political stagnation and uncertainty, eroding public trust in government institutions and undermining the credibility of Somalia’s political system.
Land disputes and unauthorized property seizures in Mogadishu have further intensified social tensions, exposing systemic governance failures and weakening social cohesion. Citizens continue to face insecurity over their basic rights, while foreign influence on national policy threatens Somalia’s sovereignty and complicates independent decision-making. These factors collectively highlight the urgent need for strong institutional reform and transparent governance to protect the rights of all Somalis.
Security conditions remain precarious, with violent clashes and instability persisting across multiple regions, particularly in Southwest State. This ongoing unrest has put ordinary citizens at significant risk and has hampered economic and social
development efforts. In addition, Somalia’s economy continues to struggle under rising living costs, limited employment opportunities, and the deterioration of essential public services, fueling widespread frustration and public dissatisfaction.
To address these challenges, Somalia urgently requires clear election timelines for both regional and presidential contests, protection of citizens’ rights without discrimination, strict adherence to the constitution, and stronger collaboration between the federal government and regional states. Political consensus, accountability, and transparent governance are essential to restore confidence, ensure stability, and achieve sustainable peace across the nation.
Without decisive leadership and effective reforms, Somalia risks prolonged instability and growing public disillusionment. The Somali people deserve leadership that prioritizes transparency, justice, and tangible progress to ensure security, prosperity, and social cohesion for all.
