The death toll from the Izmir earthquake in Turkey has reached 43

Last Friday, an earthquake measuring 6.6 on the Richter scale shook Izmir, western Turkey, destroying about 20 buildings.

Today, Sunday morning, the Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Department announced that the number of victims of the Izmir earthquake has risen to 43. 

The Disaster and Emergency Management Department said, that in addition to the killing of 43 people, including one drowning, 896 others were injured.
