Turkish aircraft sent warning signals through their electronic systems. |
In the skies over Syria, an "aircraft confrontation" between Türkiye and Israel has been revealed.
The Turkish newspaper Sozcu published details of a near-confrontation between Turkey and Israel over Syrian airspace on the day of the intensive Israeli airstrikes on Syria on May 2.
The Turkish opposition newspaper quoted sources as saying that Turkish aircraft patrolled the area where Israeli aircraft were operating.
It added that Turkish aircraft sent warning signals via their electronic systems to the Israeli aircraft, and that there was brief radio communication between the aircraft. Despite this tension, the two sides avoided direct engagement.
The Israeli military announced the targets of its airstrikes early Saturday morning, which targeted various areas in Syria.
The military said in a statement: "We struck a military position, anti-aircraft guns, and surface-to-air missile infrastructure in Syria."
