Real Madrid legend Raúl González has announced his departure from coaching the club's reserve team, leaving all options open regarding his future.

The former striker has frequently been linked in the media with higher management positions, including with his former club Schalke 04, currently playing in the German second division.

The capital club said in a statement on Tuesday: "Raúl will always remain in the hearts of all the team's fans, and Real Madrid will always be his home."

The statement added: "Real Madrid wishes Raúl and his family all the best in this new stage of his life."

After retiring in 2015, Raúl began his coaching career in Real Madrid's youth academy and soon took over as coach of the second team, Real Madrid Castilla, in 2015, which competes in the lower divisions of the Spanish league.
