Kyiv announces its energy infrastructure has been subjected to a "major" Russian attack.

Ukrainian Energy Minister Svetlana Hrynchuk announced on Saturday that Russia launched a large-scale attack overnight Friday to Saturday, again targeting the country's energy sector infrastructure and causing power outages in several regions.

Svetlana Hrynchuk wrote on Facebook: "The enemy is once again launching a major attack on Ukraine's energy infrastructure , which is why the power has been cut off in an emergency manner in a number of regions."

The Ukrainian energy minister added that the power would return after "the situation in the energy system stabilizes".

Oleg Kiper, the governor of the Odessa region in southern Ukraine, reported in a post on the Telegram app that drones had attacked energy facilities in the region late Friday evening.

Kipper stated that "damage was inflicted on an energy infrastructure facility," noting that there were no deaths or injuries.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Wednesday that his country needs more urgent international assistance to protect its energy supplies from Russian attacks.

In a video message from Kyiv , Zelensky added that air defense systems and the protection of energy infrastructure are a "top priority in light of Russian attacks."

He continued, "In fact, our energy providers, repair teams, and civil defense forces are working daily to rehabilitate the areas affected by the attacks."

Zelensky noted that Russian strikes are continuing in the frontline areas of Chernihiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson and Mykolaiv.

He stressed that international support should be organized at the same pace as the local Ukrainian authorities.
