On Monday, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order directing his administration to study whether certain branches of the Muslim Brotherhood, such as those in Lebanon, Egypt, and Jordan, should be designated as foreign terrorist organizations and specially designated global terrorists.

The White House added in a statement, "President Trump is confronting the transnational network of the Muslim Brotherhood, which fuels terrorism and destabilization campaigns that are hostile to American interests and U.S. allies in the Middle East ."
