US fighter jets intercept plane flying over Trump's Florida resort

American F-16 fighter jets intercepted a civilian aircraft that violated temporarily restricted airspace over the Palm Beach area of Florida, where President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort is located.
The North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) explained that the aircraft entered the restricted airspace at approximately 4:20 p.m. Eastern Time, prompting fighter jets to fire warning flares to attract the pilot's attention before escorting the aircraft out of the restricted area.

The command confirmed that the flares that may have appeared to the public are used in a manner that takes into account the highest safety standards, and they ignite and decompose quickly without posing any threat to people on the ground. NORAD is a joint US-Canadian command responsible for air and maritime warnings in North America.

This incident prompted North American Aerospace Command (NORAD) to urge pilots to review their Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) before each flight. These are timely notifications containing updates on any changes in national airspace, including temporary flight restrictions that prohibit entry into specific areas for certain periods. NORAD emphasized that military aircraft will engage any aircraft violating these restrictions and take necessary measures to ensure compliance.

The interception of the aircraft came after a series of airspace violations in recent days, with the command saying it had dealt with several civilian aircraft this week that violated restricted airspace over Palm Beach.
Since Trump's return to the White House in January, the leadership has responded to more than 40 targets of interest in the region.

Trump's private residence is at the Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, while his golf club is in West Palm. The president was spending the Thanksgiving holiday at the resort when the incident occurred.
During Trump’s second term, in early March, US fighter jets intercepted more than 20 civilian aircraft that violated temporary flight restrictions near his home.

The area had previously witnessed a similar incident in 2017 during Trump's first term, when two F-15 fighter jets took off to intercept an unresponsive aircraft near Mar-a-Lago, causing a sonic boom that alarmed residents in the surrounding areas.
