Georgina Rodriguez achieves legal victory
After a years-long legal battle, Georgina Rodriguez has achieved another legal victory by receiving financial compensation in a defamation case in Spain.
Georgina Rodriguez, the fiancée of Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, captain of Saudi club Al-Nassr, received good news with a court ruling in her favor in a defamation case she filed against a Spanish media network.
According to what was reported by the “Revista Hola” network, a court in the Spanish capital, Madrid, issued a ruling obliging the “Tele Madrid” network to pay financial compensation of $150,000, after it was convicted of defaming Georgina and harming her family life.
The details of the case date back to 2018, when the network broadcast a program that included the publication of old photos of Georgina with her sister Ivana, in addition to revealing information described as affecting her privacy and that of her family members, which prompted her to resort to the judiciary.
The court explained in its ruling that what the media network did was “unjustified intrusion” and did not fall within the framework of professional or permissible journalistic work, confirming Georgina’s right to compensation.
Georgina received news of the verdict while she was in Dubai, where she had attended the Globe Soccer Awards ceremony a few days earlier.
The ceremony witnessed Cristiano Ronaldo being crowned the best player in the Middle East region,
after winning the title of top scorer in the Saudi Roshan League for the second consecutive season, in addition to winning the UEFA Nations League title with the Portuguese national team.
Georgina attended the event, which brought together a host of international football stars, including Ousmane Dembele and Lamine Yamal, in a remarkable occasion that combined sporting success with a legal victory in her personal life.
