A plane carrying Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro arrived in New York after he was captured by US forces in a military operation.
The United States carried out military strikes in Venezuela and captured President Nicolas Maduro, in an operation it called "Operation Infinite Resolve".

US President Donald Trump said that air, land and sea forces were used in the operation, and that the forces succeeded in "arresting Maduro in the dead of night along with his wife."

First station

The arrest operation began from a "fortified stronghold" that was stormed by US forces while Trump and his administration watched the steel doors being blown open live on air.
Trump said he watched the "complex operation" live from a room at the Mar-a-Lago resort, accompanied by military generals.

He added in a telephone interview with Fox News: "Military personnel told me that no other country on earth is capable of carrying out such an operation. If you saw what happened, I mean, I literally saw it, as if I were watching a television program."

He continued: "In fact, they stormed the place, they stormed places that could not be stormed, they stormed steel doors that were put in place specifically for this purpose, and they were taken out within seconds. I have never witnessed anything like this before."

Second station

Maduro and his wife were transferred to a US warship called the USS Iwo Jima.
The ship had been present in the Venezuelan scene long before the moment of President Nicolas Maduro's arrest, having spent months stationed in the Caribbean as part of a large-scale US naval buildup, described as the largest in the region in decades.

A plane transported the Venezuelan president from the warship to New York City.
Station Four
It is likely that Maduro and his wife have been taken to a location where they will be held until their trial.

Maduro was indicted in a U.S. federal court in 2020 on two counts of terrorism and drug trafficking, as well as other charges related to his administration of what prosecutors described as a scheme to smuggle tons of cocaine into the United States through the Los Solis Cartel. Maduro has consistently denied these charges.
According to Trump, the military operation, which "aimed to bring Maduro to justice," was carried out "in coordination with U.S. law enforcement agencies, while U.S. ships were at sea on alert and ready."
