Laporta is annoyed by Drouet's imminent move to Paris Saint-Germain

Barcelona president Joan Laporta expressed his displeasure at the decision of talented young player Derrou Fernandez to leave the Spanish champions and move to European champions Paris Saint-Germain, despite having previously agreed to a new contract with the Catalan club, describing it as "annoying".

The 18-year-old midfielder is set to join the French champions, and local media reports indicate that the Parisian club will pay Barcelona a sum slightly above the $7 million (€6 million) release clause as a goodwill gesture.
Laporta told Catalunya radio late Sunday: "We will talk when it is done. It was an annoying situation."

The Barcelona president added: It was surprising because we had agreed on a different solution when he turned eighteen.
He continued: Surprisingly, his agent told us that he could not commit to what we had agreed upon.

Laporta indicated that Barcelona is capable of "changing the situation as it has been presented to them," apparently referring to the possibility of receiving up to 8.5 million euros for Drouet from PSG, instead of the amount stipulated in the contract termination clause.

Drew, who hails from Galicia in northwest Spain, joined Barcelona's La Masia youth academy, considered the best in the world, in 2022, and has since made 8 appearances for the first team.
Earlier this month, Barcelona coach Hansi Flick expressed his disappointment at Drouet's imminent departure.

The German coach, who gave Drew his first-team debut in September 2025, said, "What I would like to say to the young players from the La Masia academy is that we are Barcelona, and one of the best teams in the world."

He added: "We give them the opportunity to train with us and grow daily alongside the best players in the world. We provide them with opportunities, offer them support, believe in their abilities, and give them confidence."

He continued: "If you want to play for Barcelona, do it with all your heart. That's what I want to say to everyone who is with us now, or will join us in the future. This must be your 100 percent goal."
He concluded by saying: "These colors, you should live for them, that's what I want to see. I don't want anything else, that's all I can say."
