A violent winter storm paralyzes air traffic in America and cancels thousands of flights.

A powerful winter storm that hit the southern and eastern United States caused the cancellation of thousands of flights and warnings of record cold and strong winds.

A winter storm that swept across large parts of the United States, particularly the South and East, caused the cancellation of more than 2,100 flights, according to the German Press Agency, amid heavy snowfall and severe weather disturbances.

The eastern states of the country are experiencing a continuous wave of severe cold that extends as far south as Florida, with fears of record temperatures that could threaten citrus crops and exacerbate the repercussions of the harsh weather on vital sectors.

Bob Oravec, senior meteorologist at the U.S. Weather Prediction Center, said winter storm warnings cover parts of southern Virginia, eastern Tennessee, and North and South Carolina, emphasizing that the impact will widen as the storm progresses.

He added that the storm also extends to areas of northeastern Georgia, while simultaneously intensifying along the southern Atlantic coast, bringing between 6 and 8 inches of snow, or 15 to 20 centimeters, across a wide geographical area.

According to Bloomberg, the storm is expected to bring strong winds of up to 45 miles per hour, increasing the risk of transportation disruptions and making it more difficult to deal with the aftermath of the severe weather in the coming days.
