Samsung: The upcoming foldable Galaxy Z phones will be the thinnest.

South Korean company Samsung announced on Monday that the next generation of its Galaxy Z series will be the thinnest, lightest, and most advanced foldable Galaxy Z phone.

This comes after Samsung last week announced a foldable phone that offers the premium experience of its Ultra series phones, including a "powerful camera" and "AI-powered tools."

Now, it appears that Samsung is borrowing design cues from another of its flagship phones, the slim and lightweight Galaxy S25 Edge, according to a report by CNET.

In addition, Samsung is following in the footsteps of another slim foldable phone, the Oppo Find N5, which holds the title of the world's slimmest book-shaped foldable phone when folded.

Samsung noted in a blog post on Monday that it's only natural for users to want a foldable device that's easy to hold and use, adding, "To achieve this, Samsung engineers and designers are improving each generation of the Galaxy Z series to be thinner, lighter, and more durable than its predecessor."

The Galaxy Z Fold will particularly benefit from this new design, as the current generation, the Z Fold 6, is still a bit bulky.

Samsung's new generation of foldable Galaxy Z phones is scheduled to launch in the summer of 2025.
