English striker Harry Kane, who plays for Bayern Munich, is close to becoming the fastest player to reach 100 goals for a club in Europe's top five leagues.

Kane will have the opportunity to achieve this goal next Friday when Bayern face Werder Bremen in the German League.

With his hat-trick in Bayern's 4-1 win over Hoffenheim on Saturday, Kane's tally for the Bavarian club rose to 98 goals in 103 appearances.

Portuguese Cristiano Ronaldo, the current star of Saudi club Al-Nassr and former Real Madrid, Manchester United, and Juventus, and Norwegian Erling Haaland, the current top scorer for Manchester City and former Borussia Dortmund, share the current record.

Ronaldo needed 105 matches to score 100 goals for his former club Real Madrid, and Haaland equaled that record with Manchester City.

Kane needs two goals against Bremen to reach 100 goals in 104 games and break the record, and if he fails to do that, he can still equal Ronaldo and Haaland's record during the Champions League match against Paphos on September 30
