"Praising Trump" puts Infantino in trouble... Will he face an official investigation?

Media reports indicate that FIFA President Gianni Infantino is accused of violating FIFA rules because of his praise for the policies of US President Donald Trump.
The Athletic reported on Friday that Infantino is "accused of violating FIFA's rules regarding impartiality" after praising Trump's policies at the US Business Forum in Miami on Wednesday.
During his visit to the forum, which was attended by Trump, Infantino praised the US president, saying: "We should all support what he is doing, because I think he is doing very well."

Infantino described Trump as "my close friend," adding that he was lucky to have "an excellent relationship with him."
Miguel Maduro, the former head of FIFA's governance body between 2016 and 2017, said that Infantino's statements "constitute a clear breach of the rules relating to political neutrality."
FIFA's statutes stipulate neutrality in political and religious matters.

Maduro explained to the newspaper "Athletic" that Infantino attended the event and spoke in his capacity as FIFA president, considering that his statement "includes support for Trump's programs and actions and calls on others to support them."

He added: "Political neutrality requires not taking a position on this political debate, as well as calling for support for Trump's policies."
He continued: "Doing so appears to be a clear violation of the duty of political neutrality imposed on any FIFA official under Article 15 of the Code of Ethics."
FIFA declined to respond to the accusations against Infantino of violating the principle of political neutrality.

In the event of a breach of FIFA regulations, an investigation is opened by the Ethics Committee, an independent judicial committee within FIFA tasked with investigating and judging the conduct of any person subject to the Code of Ethics.
Possible penalties include a warning, reprimand, financial penalty, mandatory compliance training, or a ban from participating in any football-related activity.
