US President Donald Trump was awarded the FIFA Peace Prize on Friday.
The award was presented to Trump during the 2026 World Cup draw ceremony held at the John F. Kennedy Center in Washington , D.C. , in the presence of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney , Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, and representatives of the teams that qualified for the World Cup.

The award was announced in a pre-recorded segment showcasing Trump's efforts to achieve peace around the world.

On stage, Trump wore a gold medal that was handed to him by FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
Trump described the honor as "one of the greatest honors of my life" and said it was a "great honor" to receive the award.

Infantino said: "We want to live in a safe world and in a safe environment. We want to unite. This is what we are doing today and what we are doing at the World Cup," according to the British newspaper The Independent.

FIFA announced last November that it would give this award to honor "people who have taken extraordinary actions for peace and to unite people around the world."

Earlier, press reports indicated that Trump was the leading candidate for the FIFA Peace Prize.
Trump declared himself "President of Peace," claiming that he ended 8 wars in 9 months.
Last September, he lost the Norwegian Nobel Committee's Peace Prize despite his campaign to highlight his most important diplomatic achievements.
