Al Hilal beats Manchester City 4-3 in the 112th minute.
Marcos Leonardo, the Saudi Al-Hilal player, scored the fourth goal against Manchester City, which includes Egyptian star Omar Marmoush, in the 112th minute of the match currently taking place between them at Campus World Stadium, in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup currently being held in the United States of America. The result brings the leader's lead to 4-3.
Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia finished second in Group H with five points, behind Real Madrid of Spain, and set up a fiery encounter with Manchester City of England, which features Egyptian star Omar Marmoush, in the Round of 16.
Meanwhile, Manchester City topped Group G with nine points, achieving a perfect score after three consecutive wins. They defeated Wydad Casablanca of Morocco 2-0, Al Ain of the UAE, which features Egyptian defender Rami Rabia, 6-0, and then tore apart Juventus of Italy 5-2, becoming the only team to win all of its group stage matches.
Manchester City has become the tournament's top scorer so far with 13 goals, surpassing Bayern Munich's 12, while the Sky Blues have conceded only two goals.
FIFA announced that the team that reaches the quarter-finals of the tournament will receive a financial reward of no less than $13 million. The Athletic revealed that Manchester City tops the list of clubs with the highest earnings so far, having qualified alone for the round of 16, earning $51.7 million.
Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia's revenues rose to $21 million after qualifying for the round of 16 of the Club World Cup, with a $9.5 million participation bonus, a $2 million win over Pachuca of Mexico, a $2 million bonus for draws against Real Madrid of Spain and Salzburg of Austria ($1 million per match), and a $7.5 million bonus for advancing to the round of 16.
Al Hilal became the first Asian and Arab club to advance beyond the group stage of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup. It is also the only Asian and Arab club to continue its journey in the tournament, following the exits of Al Ahly of Egypt, Espérance de Tunis, Wydad Casablanca of Morocco, Al Ain of the UAE, Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea, and Urawa Red Diamonds of Japan.
