Video referee ruled out after Housen's red card in Real Madrid's match against Sociedad.

theSpanish newspaper Marca revealed that the Referees Committee of the Spanish Football Federation acknowledged a refereeing error during the Real Madrid and Real Sociedad match , in the fourth round of the Spanish League , which was held on Saturday evening at the Anoeta Stadium.

The committee explained that the decision to expel Real Madrid defender Dean Housen in the 32nd minute of the match was a mistake, noting that video assistant referee Figueroa Vázquez did not fulfill his duty in alerting on-field referee Jesus Gil Manzano to review the incident on the VAR screen, which would have changed the expulsion decision.

As a result of this error, the committee decided to exclude Figueroa Vázquez from officiating future La Liga matches as a disciplinary sanction for his failure to perform his duties during the match.

Despite the expulsion, Real Madrid managed to secure a crucial 2-1 victory over hosts Real Sociedad, maintaining their lead at the top of the table with a perfect score.

Real Madrid's goals were scored by Kylian Mbappé in the 12th minute and Arda Guler in the 44th minute, while Real Sociedad's goal was scored by Mikel Oyarzabal from a penalty kick in the 56th minute.

Dean Howson received a straight red card in the 32nd minute, after an intervention that the final referee deemed prevented a clear one-on-one.

Real Madrid tops the La Liga standings with 12 points, having won their first four matches, scoring eight goals and conceding only two.

Meanwhile, Real Sociedad continued their negative results, as their tally froze at only two points in seventeenth place, from two draws and two defeats, with four goals scored and six conceded.
